The first half of the year was a big one for us; we shipped new features and made an exciting transition as a team, setting the stage for the second half.

The Highlights
January
We started the month with an exciting announcement—Mono’s acquisition by Flutterwave—and shared what this means for us, our partners, and the future ahead.
We made a new feature addition to Mono Prove. The Prove Face ID Manual Review feature lets you manually validate users directly on your Mono dashboard, after three unsuccessful automated facial recognition attempts. See how it works.
For this year’s Data Privacy Day, we hosted a joint live session with our friends at Kora. Our conversation unpacked the new General Application Implementation Directive (GAID) and how businesses can stay compliant. Watch the replay.
We also shared our 2025 highlights in a video showing our product and company milestones from the past year.
CAC Lookup got a couple of updates: you can now return a company’s CAC status report as a PDF via the CAC Status Report endpoint and set the optional ‘exact’ parameter to true on the CAC Business Lookup endpoint to only return business names that match your search term.
We made an update to NIN Lookup, allowing you to generate and download NIN lookup results as PDFs when you include ‘output=pdf’ in the query parameter.
February
The TIN Lookup endpoint has a new update that lets you verify a business’s tax identification number and return their tax information by passing their RC number via the CAC channel.
Our consumer product, Owo, got a brand new look, complete with a new website. Owo lets you send money or pay bills using WhatsApp. It’s literally as easy as chatting, so try it out if you haven’t yet.
We also wrote about why we built Mono Prove to empower businesses with a faster, smarter way to verify real customers and cut down repeat verification steps.
March
We went live with one of our most impactful features: Mono Sweep (formerly Global Standing Mandate). This upgrade enables lenders and businesses to collect recurring payments across all the bank accounts linked to a customer’s BVN, via one e-mandate setup.
Our product team hosted a live webinar with our CEO, Abdul, to share an insider look at how Prove actually powers a smarter user verification and onboarding system for businesses. If you missed it, catch the replay here.
Six years into building our visual identity at Mono, our Design team shared a peek into how we’ve built a system of brand-driven elements and applied it across multiple touchpoints.
April
We shared how Renmoney, one of our earliest partners at Mono, powers their lending process with our products, from borrower assessments to collecting repayments, and how this has helped them reduce loan turnaround time by 30%.
May
In May, we turned six as a company. This was a big milestone for us and a reflective moment on how much progress we’ve made as an open banking API company, building the rails and financial infrastructure for many ambitious businesses in Africa. Thank you for building with us.
Three months ago, our visual designer, Anu, transitioned from an intern to a full-time role on the team. She shared what her first 90 days at Mono have been like and her experience working on design projects. My favourite is her work on the Owo Valentine’s Day campaign. You can read everything here.
June
We launched our newest product, Mono Disburse. Available to Nigerian businesses, Disburse allows you to send single or bulk outbound payments to up to 1,000 recipients at once, instantly or on a schedule. This ensures businesses can make payouts without locking their capital away in external wallets, reducing payment delays. Get started here at mono.co/disburse.
We closed off June by kicking off the 4th edition of the Mono Summer Internship Programme. It’s our fourth year doing this, and it’s always thrilling to connect with young talents and give them the room to grow into confident builders.
Side Quests
Besides work, monoliths are doing some pretty amazing things, from projects outside their day-to-day roles to very cool hobbies. Here are the side quests we got up to lately.
Ewere, our DevOps Engineer, built isabilaw, an AI legal assistant that you can ask questions about Nigerian laws and get answers in plain, everyday language. This doesn’t replace professional legal advice, instead, it makes it easy to find and understand legal information. Check it out.
Lekan, our Head of Design, doesn’t just create beautiful interfaces, he also has a hidden talent for painting. His most recent piece explores black tax on Africans.
