Two months ago, we launched Mono to enable users share their financial data with digital businesses in Africa in a secure and easy way.
Now, more and more users are coming online and internet businesses
(e.g fin-techs) are everywhere. To support the surge in companies building innovative solutions with customer data in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, we needed to  build and re-design the widget from ground up
And that's why we're excited to release the all-new Mono Connect Widget to make user enrolment experience smoother and faster while helping to ensure stable access to user authorised financial and identity data.
What is the Mono Connect Widget?
For those wondering why this is important, Mono connect is the entry point for businesses to get access to their customers financial and identity data.
Users make use of Mono connect to give consent to businesses before they can access the user financial data via Mono API.
Now that you have an understanding of why this is important, let's get down to what we've changed and how we've made it better.
A faster overall experience
Speed is critical to offering the best user experience. We’ve done a number of things to make the widget even more faster than before. Â
First, we’ve reduced the time it takes for each pane to load, making the account connection experience for users faster than before.
We have also improved the experience of selecting an institution by displaying the most relevant ones first based on the user’s location. Â
E.g users in Lagos are most likely to use Gtbank compared to users from Ijebu, so they would see Gtbank as the first institution from the list.

Mobile banking connection
At its core, Mono is a data company and we make use of data analytics tools like Amplitude to understand users behaviour.
When we launched, we noticed that most users don't have internet banking but they have mobile banking.
With this data point, we started working on integrating banks mobile APIs to make the enrolment process accessible to all users, irrespective of their institution login type, Mono should be able to authenticate them. Â
The new Mono widget comes with Mobile banking login type and we've designed the process such that its more cleaner and clearer for users.
A cleaner, more accessible design
Compared to the old connect widget, at its core, we’ve improved the design by making it cleaner and more visually appealing, helping to ensure the enrolment process is even more successful.
We've seen users complete enrolment in minutes!
Overall, our hope is that these new changes increases success rate for your businesses customers when linking their financial account through Mono.
